Individual presentations are 15-minute illustrated talks, followed by five minutes of audience questions and discussions. Practice your talk so that you will not go over the 15-minute limit! Our moderators will interrupt you if necessary to keep the show on schedule. We want short, sharp, focused presentations!
Panel presentations focus on a specific topic and consist of either a series of presentations or a discussion of a topic by a panel in front of an audience. As part of a panel presentation it is required that the presenters designate a chairperson who is responsible for organizing and arranging the presentations. Panel presentations can either be 40 or 90 minutes.
Workshops should provide 90 minutes of hands-on training for a specific application or topic. Workshops will be held in state-of-the art computer labs that range from 15 to 35 seats. Workshops should involve the participants in an activity and teach them a new skill. In the past, successful workshops have had participants log into guest accounts; users have been able to save their work for future use; and many presenters produce training materials. Presenters are responsible for providing the software and other specifications to Theresa Jenkins as soon as possible.
Lightning Talks are 5-minute presentations presented in a fast-moving, exciting format. Each presentation can include a static poster, live demo, or utilize technology. Presenters are required to bring their own equipment. Internet access will be available.
All sessions and workshops will take place in smart rooms equipped with Microsoft Windows 7, MS Office 2010 suite, Internet access for laptops via Ethernet cable, LCD Projector with a 1280×800 resolution, and screens. All presentations should be loaded onto the podium computer beforehand from optical media (CD-ROM/DVD) or USB drives with native Windows 7 drivers. Software demonstrations requiring internet access should NOT use the local wifi signal; please use the podium Ethernet cable with your laptop, or the podium computer with your guest account.
